Hello I am Jonathan (Jon) Pineau. Here’s a little bit about me.
I am a recent graduate from Ontario Tech University (formerly UOIT). I achieved a Bachelor of Commerce with a Marketing Major Honours program. Overall, I enjoyed my studies at Ontario Tech, and am fortunate to make the Dean’s list. My educational experience also includes a Business Administration Marketing – Advanced Diploma from Durham College. At Durham College I also made the Dean’s list. I was fortunate to work a co-op position at a digital marketing agency in my final year of study.

During my studies I learned valuable concepts, hands-on experiences, through lectures and real-world experiences. These concepts and experiences influence and improve my decision-making process when faced with new business and marketing problems. My educational journey influenced my work ethic, decision making process, and my worldview.
My Work Ethic
My work ethic can be best described as to “Never stop learning”. I wrote an article that in-depth describes the benefit of having this line of thinking. This work ethic requires hard work, critical thinking, and consistency to be successful. What’s best about this work ethic is that it benefits myself, co-workers, the organization, and society as a whole. As if correctly implemented the critical thinking stage will solve issues these parties face. Benefiting all or most of the parties involved in a decision is difficult, requiring hard work to succeed. However, consistently searching for new alternatives gives the opportunity to fix these issues.
Decision Making Process
My decision-making process has similar tenets to my work ethic. I aim to have all stakeholders in a decision benefit from my decision. Unfortunately, this is not always possible, but coming to a problem with this line of thinking can lead to a solution where all parties benefit. When I discover a solution, I focus on whether this solution will lead to a long-term solution or a short-term fix. Long-term solutions are what I aim for, as they are most valuable for an organization. Common Business tools such as VRIO analysis can determine if a solution will be long-term or not.
Another major tenet of my decision-making process is if the solution aligns with an organization’s mission, vision, and the product/service’s selling proposition. Unless if there is a planned change in these tenets, this is a good indicator if the solution will be effective or not. If the solution conflicts with a selling proposition, it can confuse the target audience worsening the sales of a product or service. If the solution conflicts with a brand’s vision and mission, it can damage the brand’s overall value, leading to fewer sales across a company’s product/ service line. I find this line of thinking also focuses on long-term goals and the big picture of an organization leading to more effective solutions.
Programs
Throughout my educational experience I am proficient in many in-demand programs used in marketing and business. Firstly, as displayed on this website, I am proficient with WordPress for building websites. This requires other fundamental skills and programs to create an effective website such as Photoshop for creating materials, SEO optimization, creative, and organizational skills.

Most of the images on this site required edits in photoshop to function with my website, or to convey my message. Examples include my article on Subaru in 2021 “Pleiades is not as Bright” where I made edits to the current design of the WRX to display how Subaru could economically improve the design of their vehicles.
SEO optimization is essential for digital marketing. Without proper optimization there can be little to no traffic for your site, not the targeted traffic on your site which can lead to mismanaging paid search campaign spending. I have learned my skills in SEO optimization from my digital marketing classes in College and University. For my e-portfolio website I use Yoast SEO for optimizing my keywords, meta descriptions etc… I also was fortunate to use SEM Rush for keyword optimization for paid search campaigns during my Co-op.
For market research I have conducted surveys and in-depth interviews during my studies. I am well experienced with tools and market research theories that enhance my skills For these projects my team and I used XM Qualtrics to create, design and distribute the survey to the respondents. After colleting the data, my team and I would analyze and interpret the data. XM Qualtrics has some data analysis tools, but IBM’s SPSS is more advanced, and effective. In SPSS I used the program to find general insights from the data, as well as cross tabulating data for more in-depth insights. I am also well experienced with Marketing Engineering for Excel ME>XL by Decision Pro. With ME>XL I was able to analyze and interpret secondary data using data analysis processes. Some of these advanced data analysis processes are part-worth’s, K-Means Clusters, LOGIT analysis etc… Understanding these concepts allows for greater insights and analyses for the concluding research report. My experiences with these programs and working individually and with teams, greatly improved my ability to analyze complex data sets to create an exemplary research report. My knowledge in these tools greatly benefits my ability to efficiently and accurately design, distribute, and analyze market research studies. I look forward to using these skills throughout my career.
